The new Crosstrek features an upgraded 11.6-inch center touchscreen, which is significantly larger than the previous model. The screen is positioned vertically, taking up the majority of the dashboard. Despite the digital upgrade, the vehicle still includes a variety of physical buttons for controlling the stereo, climate controls, seat positioning, and a large shift stalk in the center console.

Upon first glance, the new Crosstrek may appear to be a mere facelift of the model released in Japan last year. However, closer inspection reveals subtle yet striking updates to its design. The rugged, adventurous aesthetic is still present, with bold wheel arches and sturdy plastic trim. The rear fascia boasts sharp, asymmetrical lines and more plastic accents, while the front boasts a larger grille and larger driving lamps. Despite the new design elements, the dimensions remain similar, with the new model being only a half-inch longer.

One of the differences that can be seen in the teaser photo for the US Crosstrek is a sport badge on the door instead of an e-Boxer emblem. It’s unclear if Subaru will introduce a sport trim for the Crosstrek in the US or if the e-Boxer hybrid powertrain will be available in North America. In Japan, the Crosstrek is powered by a naturally aspirated 2.0-liter flat four-cylinder engine that generates 145 horsepower, paired with a 13-hp electric motor. The Japanese Crosstrek also offers front-wheel drive as an option.
