In bidding farewell to an automotive era, the curtains have closed on the Chrysler 300 as it succumbs to the wave of electrification. Stellantis recently bid adieu to the iconic Hemi-powered 300C, as the final model, swathed in Velvet Red, gracefully rolled off the assembly line at the Brampton plant. The poignant moment marked the concluding chapter for the beloved 300, set to wrap up its production on December 31, 2023.
After a two-year hiatus, the 2023 Chrysler 300C made a triumphant return, paying homage to its Hemi-powered ancestor from the 1957 model year. This final rendition of the 300C, a testament to its legacy of performance, saw only 2,000 units crafted for the US market (with an additional 200 destined for Canada), all of which were claimed within a mere 12 hours of the grand reveal.
Under the hood, the swan song of the 300C featured a robust 6.4-liter Hemi engine, boasting 485 horsepower and 475 lb-ft of torque. This powerhouse could propel the vehicle from zero to 60 mph in a mere 4.3 seconds, reaching a top speed of 160 mph.
Distinguishing itself with enhanced performance features, the 2023 model boasted red four-piston Brembo brakes, a 3.09 limited-slip differential, active damping suspension, and sleek black-finished rounded exhaust tips. The exterior received a facelift with a new iteration of the tri-color 300C badge, accompanied by chrome black accents. Inside, the black Laguna leather front seats proudly sported the new 300C logo.
Chris Feuell, the CEO of the Chrysler brand, reflected on the significance of the moment, stating, “Chrysler brand is proud to mark the legacy of the Chrysler 300C as a true automotive icon, one of the original muscle cars representing bold American luxury.” As the last Hemi-powered 300C graced the assembly line, Feuell expressed excitement for the brand’s transition towards a sustainable, all-electric future, aligning with the Stellantis Dare Forward 2030 strategic plan.
Alex Pittas, the plant manager at Brampton Assembly, praised the workforce for their dedication, remarking, “Our workforce here at Brampton Assembly has a reputation for building top-quality vehicles, and the Chrysler 300C was no different.”
The final note for the Chrysler 300 heralds a new era set to unfold in 2025, marked by the arrival of the brand’s first electric vehicle—a two-row electric crossover. Simultaneously, the 300 nameplate will forge ahead with an all-electric powertrain, a vision that was teased to dealers in the preceding April, signaling the brand’s commitment to an electrifying future.
