According to the most recent teaser for the Mazda CX-90, the vehicle will feature a plug-in hybrid powertrain that the manufacturer refers to as the E Skyactiv PHEV. An inline-six badge can be seen on the vehicle in the earlier CX-90 teaser (above). Whether this is also the PHEV powertrain is unknown. “The first-ever 2024 CX-90 will be available nationwide as a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle,” reads the announcement from Mazda. But it doesn’t say that the model will only be available as a PHEV.
The 2.5-liter plug-in hybrid four-cylinder from the CX-60 could also be added to the CX-90 by Mazda. It produces 369 pound-feet (500 Newton-meters) of torque and 323 horsepower (241 kilowatts) as a whole. With this setup, the crossover can reach a top speed of 124 miles per hour (200 kilometers per hour) in 5.8 seconds. The 17.8-kilowatt-hour battery gives 39 miles (63 kilometers) of reach in the WLTP consolidated cycle.
In some markets, the CX-60 is also available with a 48-volt mild-hybrid system and a 3.3-liter inline six. For Australia, it produces 331 lb-ft (450 Nm) and 280 horsepower (209 kW). The result could be different in different applications.
The Mazda CX-90 Is Powered by turbocharged 3.3-liter mill develops 340 horsepower (254 kilowatts) and 369 pound-feet (500 Newton-meters) of torque engine.
Mazda supposedly planned to present an age of the Mazda6 with an inline-six motor driving the back tires. Nevertheless, this model has yet to arrive. Instead, it appears that the company decided to concentrate on crossovers first, such as the CX-50 through CX-90 models.
