The EC7 is Nio’s “mid-large flagship coupe SUV” when it debuts in China. We think that sounds a little hazy, but wait, there’s still a lot more to say about the new EC7.

Starting with the design, the vehicle resembles the EL7 in every way: it has a sloped roofline, a longer rear overhang, and the same front end design as the EL7. The wheelbase of the EC7 is 116.5 inches (2,960 mm), it is 67.5 inches (1,714 mm) tall, and it is 195.6 inches (4,968 mm) long. However, the crossover’s low drag coefficient of just 0.23 makes it the most aerodynamic SUV in the world, according to Nio. An active rear wing contributes to this high rating.

A dual-motor electric drive system generates power with a peak output of 644 horsepower (480 kilowatts) and instant torque of 626 pound-feet (850 Newton-meters). With this setup, you can accelerate from 0 to 62 miles per hour (100 kilometers per hour) in just 3.8 seconds. According to China’s CLTC cycle, the EV SUV can be ordered with 75, 100, or 150 kWh battery packs, with a range of 304 to 584 miles (940 km) between charges.

The EC7’s equipment includes a massive panoramic roof made of double-layered sound and heat insulation glass. The five levels of adjustable transmittance provided by Nio’s flexible electrochromic (EC) technology permit natural light to flood the vehicle with extreme transparency or to completely protect privacy when necessary. A premium 23-speaker audio system, tri-zone climate control, and heated rear seats are additional conveniences.’
