The small crossover’s mid-cycle facelift, which has now been spotted for the first time, is likely to include the 48V setup. The vehicle only had rear camouflage because it was outside in the cold between two test sessions. However, it is anticipated that the front of future prototypes will also be covered in a disguise.
The dual exhaust tips indicate that we are dealing with a Peugeot 2008 prototype with a combustion engine from 2024; however, it is likely that the e-2008 will undergo the same styling modifications. From what we can tell so far, the B-segment crossover’s taillights have been redesigned. The Stellantis brand made the effort to cover the rear bumper, which gives the impression of being more or less identical, but due to the camo, we are unable to see any subtle modifications.
The test vehicle, which was caught in Sweden in the late afternoon, had halogen headlights rather than the optional full-LED system with the three-claw light signature. Additionally, Peugeot did not cover the interior, giving the impression that the interior will be the same as that of the current model. However, facelifts typically bring about internal changes as well, so 2008 probably did not have them. History has shown us this.
These mild-hybrid models will be powered by a new generation of PureTech gasoline engines with 100 and 136 horsepower under the hood. A six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission with a 21-kilowatt electric motor will transmit the power to the front wheels. In addition to the increased low-end torque, the 2008 will reduce fuel consumption by up to 15%.
Stellantis has made recent small electric vehicles better, and it’s likely that the e-2008 will soon get an upgrade for more range. Take, for instance, the 2023 e-208, which gains 20 horsepower for a total of 156 horsepower while maintaining the same torque output of 260 Nm (191 lb-ft). In the WLTP cycle, the electric supermini now has a larger battery that has a usable capacity of 48.1 kWh, up from 46.2 kWh, and can travel 400 kilometers (249 miles) on a single charge.
In the second half of the year, Peugeot will offer the 2008 facelift for sale.
