He recalls the pandemic era when he first laid eyes on this beast, shelling out nearly $70,000 before taxes. To his dismay, this hefty price tag did not translate to the high-end features he expected. Inexplicably, automatic headlights and adaptive cruise control, commonly found in more budget-friendly vehicles, were conspicuous in their absence.
The primary bone of contention for this owner, however, is the EcoDiesel V6. Priced at a hefty $4,995 extra for the Ram 1500 Rebel, he flatly asserts that the performance does not justify the additional cost when you factor in the maintenance overhead. Taking matters into his own hands, he found himself shelling out a whopping $90 for the factory-recommended oil and oil filter, each. And that’s not all; the thirst for Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) every 1,000 to 2,000 miles coupled with the comparatively steeper price of diesel fuel in the US threw more fuel on the fire.
